At Hooper’s Hollow Custom Woodworking, our goal is to provide fine, handcrafted goods made from sustainably sourced, high-quality lumber. We create pieces that are not only functional but also enhance the beauty of your home—items that make you proud to be a Hooper’s Hollow customer.
OUR STORY
A hobby and a passion—aren’t those how most labors of love begin? That’s exactly how this journey started.
My name is Dustin Day, and what began as a small woodworking hobby took a major turn when I needed a wedding gift for my brother. I decided to create my first charcuterie board, and after that, everything changed. Not only did I discover a passion for woodworking during that project, but suddenly—and very unexpectedly—others began asking for charcuterie and cutting boards of their own.
My father, Tom, soon joined in on the fun. On days when we needed extra help, my mother, Sondra, would come out to lend a hand, and before we knew it, she was in the shop with us more days than not. With all these new creations pouring out of the workshop, we needed a way to spread the word. That’s when my wife, Hanna, stepped in and launched our social media.
We started selling at local farmers markets and craft shows, then expanded to events farther from home. Before we knew it, we had built a small family business.
Now, all we needed was a name…
OUR NAME
“What in the world is a Hooper’s Hollow?” I’m glad you asked!
Hooper is our pride and joy—our family dog. Our woodshop sits at the base of a hill that slopes into the woods. As we work, Hooper spends his time alternating between lying in the sun and running laps around the shop, chasing squirrels and chipmunks. Over time, he has run so many laps that he has worn a well-beaten trail into the ground, circling the entire shop.
Since our workshop sits in a hollow at the base of the wooded hill—or a “holler,” as we say in these parts—we decide that Hooper’s Hollow is the perfect name for our little business.
